Carol Polich, Nature Photographer/Writer

Facing the challenge of the natural elements, whether in searing heat or well below zero temperatures, and photographing with nature's seasons, Polich's photographic eye goes beyond the surface along with her creative writing.

Internationally recognized and published, she has several, varied publications spanning the African and Asian continents, and the western USA. Over the years, her photos have appeared in numerous travel and clothing catalogues while Lonely Planet Images (Australia) has frequently used her photos in their LPI travel guides.

Her technical expertise has appeared in OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHER and SHUTTERBUG while diverse magazines such as COUNTRY, FARM & RANCH LIVING, BIG SKY JOURNAL, DISTINCTLY MONTANA, MONTANA MAGAZINE, WOMEN IN THE OUTDOORS, DIVERSIONS (South Africa), and TRAVEL AFRICA (UK) have published her travel stories and photos.

Several western USA national parks have also used her photos in postcards, calendars and guide books. In 1996, she won the National Geographic Traveler photo contest with an image of the Namib Dunes in Namibia.

As a former music/humanities teacher, the teaching profession is inherent in her skills. With the outdoors being her "open air theater", Polich brings nature to life with her students not only through exquisite photos, but also in the manner in which she teaches and lectures.

She has two photo books to her credit: "Portrait of Paradise" ($28) published by Far Country Press (Helena, MT), 2007, which covers the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and "Wildlife of Southern Africa" ($18) published by Random Struik in Cape Town, South Africa (2010) which is a photo packed book connected by 7 behavioural chapters about wildlife survival.
