WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Form offers DEPTH, such as 3 dimensional, within the photo, while SHAPE is one dimensional as in a silhouette that shows "flatness". Using zoom lenses can change the composition before your eyes.Seeing "shape" within composition becomes more apparent as the zoom lens offers more versatility with composition.
One of the most versatile zoom lenses
is within the 70-200mm or 100-400 mm range. Travel
lenses covering a wide range such as the the 16-35mm, 24-70mm or 24-105mm,
will offer more versatility with foreground scenes in these wide angle ranges.
WHAT I NEED TO KNOW
I decide which lenses to pack when I'm traveling. IfI'm photographing scenics or cultural, I often take my Sigma 24-105mm
lens and my Canon 70-200. If I know I'm only going
to photograph wildlife then my form and shape take
take on a different perspective when I have the longer lenses such
as the Canon 100-400mm and the Canon 500mm.
