My photography is a blend of my curiosity and imagination meshed with my creative talents: music, writing, and art history. Photography has become the final, evolving product. This combination comes with a degree in Instrumental Music Education from the University of Michigan where I developed skills to be a band conductor and a Humanities teacher for 9 years. While teaching the Humanities (Art and Music history, Architecture, Writing), I realized how the Humanities paralleled human history. Maybe this is why I eventually developed an interest in photographing Ancient Civilizations and Cultures while spending weeks in various countries - Nepal, Morocco Turkey, Argentina, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, and Greece- traveling solo. The architecture and cultural absorption has been a pleasant photo deviation from my nature photography as it helps me to become more eclectic with varying interests and thus, subjects. The combination of knowing art history and music and being able to write nature and travel stories to accompany my photos, has led me into the world of publishing, teaching, lecturing and this website. .. Otherwise, and foremost, my passion has been with African wildlife and landscapes as a nature photographer. With extensive solo travels throughout southern Africa, Madagascar and Kenya, from 1987-2010, with camera, pen, and paper in hand, I could leisurely observe, photograph, and write about wildlife behaviors and landscapes. My interests extended into the western USA wildlife and landscapes when not journeying overseas. It was not a planned path nor was I schooled in photography. My creative eye caught up with my imagination as photography became my next skilled art during the late 1980's through currently. Join me on my creative journey ... Carol Polich
